The Turkish welded pipe market has experienced a weakening over the past two weeks. Domestic and export quotations have declined by $20-40/mt amid falling prices for CIS and Chinese flat steel products and depressed demand from local and foreign customers. The strengthening of the Turkish currency against the US dollar is also pushing domestic pipe prices down. In the coming period, Turkey's welded pipe prices are likely to decline further under the influence of weak demand and falling prices for feedstock material.
Turkish welded pipe producers have reduced their prices through increased discounts on their price lists. Thus, Noksel and Yucel Boru have increased their discounts to 40 percent, while Tosyali has upped its discounts to 42 percent for HR pipes and hollow sections. These prices include delivery.
Domestic quotations of ERW pipes and hollow sections of 2-6 mm wall thickness made from HRC are at the level of $550-560/mt ex-works, while ERW pipes of 1.5 mm wall thickness made from CRC are at the range of $650-660/mt ex-works Domestic quotations of square and rectangular hollow sections grade A, B made to ASTM A500 with wall thickness of 2-6 mm made from HRC are at $530-540/mt ex-works, while prices of pipes with wall thickness of 1.5 mm made from CRC are at $615-620/mt ex-works.
For 2"-6" industrial pipes with 2-6 mm wall thickness made to EN 10305-3/DIN 2394 prices are now around $550-600/mt, taking into account the discounts by Noksel and Yucel. Current domestic prices for 20 x 20 mm - 60 x 60 mm hollow sections with 2 mm wall thickness are at the level of $535-560/mt, again taking into account the discounts implemented by Noksel and Yucel.
Black water pipes of 2"-6" sizes with 4.5-5.4 mm wall thickness made to EN 10255 are being offered for the domestic market at about $570-650/mt, including the discount by Borusan. Actual offers of Borusan's galvanized pipes of 2"-4" size made to EN 10255 are being given to the domestic market at $700-730/mt ex-works.
Export prices of Turkish ERW pipes and hollow sections of 2-6 mm wall thickness made from HRC according to EN 10219 or ASTM A500 are at the level of $570-600/mt FOB. Export offers of ERW pipes and hollow sections of 1.5 mm wall thickness made from HRC are at around $645-675/mt FOB, while the same products made from CRC are at $660-700/mt FOB. Water and gas ERW pipes of 2.0-4.5 mm wall thickness made to EN 10255/DIN 2440 from S235 grade HR products are being offered for export at about $600-630/mt FOB.
