Will ex-CIS pig iron offers gain acceptance in export markets?

According to market sources, Ukrainian pig iron offers to the export markets are currently in the range of $360-370/mt FOB, while Russian pig iron offers are currently at $350-360/mt FOB. Market sources state that demand from Turkish producers for pig iron is currently on the low side and so Ukrainian exporters are mainly concluding deals to the Italian and US markets. Before December, ex-CIS pig iron offers were considered to be on the high side due to declining scrap and iron ore prices. However, recently scrap prices have indicated a slight increase and market sources now think that current pig iron offers may be accepted in the export markets.
