US pig iron import prices from Brazil reflect mixed trend depending on grade

On March 24, SteelOrbis reported US import basic pig iron offer prices at $380/mt FOB Northern Brazil and $370-375/mt FOB Southern Brazil.

According to sources, US import basic pig iron offers are presently at $370-380/mt FOB Northern Brazil port and $365-370/mt FOB Southern Brazil (Rio).  These prices reflect a downward correction of $10/mt from the Northern region and $5/mt from the Southern region as a result of the recent global trend in scrap prices and downward movements heard in CIS basic pig iron offer prices.

On March 20, SteelOrbis reported new US import foundry grade pig iron prices in Brazil at $390/mt FOB Rio which translated to $410/mt CFR New Orleans (NOLA). Updated offer prices for nodular are now being heard up $5-10/mt at $395-400/mt FOB Rio.
