Turkish demand for CIS pig iron exports still weak

According to market sources, import scrap prices in Turkey, which had rebounded slightly after Ramadan, have maintained their upward trend this week and are currently at $240-245/mt CFR. Meanwhile, the price of iron ore of 62 percent Fe content for delivery to China's Qingdao port has increased to $56.5/mt CFR. This rise in raw material prices has been reflected in CIS-based pig iron producers' offers to the export markets, which have increased by $5-10/mt during the past week to $240-245/mt CFR. However, demand for pig iron from the CIS is still weak in Turkey. In the meantime, an Ukrainian pig iron producer is expected to announce its new offer prices this week.
