Turkish buyers consider Lebanese scrap export prices to be on the high side

According to market sources, a producer in Turkey's Iskenderun region concluded an ex-Lebanon deal in previous weeks for HMS I/II 80:20 scrap in the range of $269-273/mt CFR. In the current week, Lebanese suppliers have been forced to reduce their scrap export offers in parallel with the declines recorded in the deep sea scrap market and so their new offers to Iskenderun-based producers are at $263/mt CFR. However, Turkish buyers consider this price level to be on the high side and are targeting levels below $260/mt CFR in their firm bids.
