Turkey’s ship scrap prices move up, but sluggish scrap flow to mills

Since SteelOrbis’ previous report published on January 6, Turkey’s local ship scrap prices have moved up by $5/mt on the upper end to $465-480/mt delivery to mill by truck. Four local producers have increased their prices in this period by $5-10/mt. Despite the higher purchase prices, ship scrap flow to the mills is slow amid sellers’ expectations of a further rise in quotations.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
