Third ex-EU booking in Turkey raises scrap prices further

Following the report published earlier today, February 6, another ex-EU scrap booking has been shared by market players, indicating that European scrap prices for Turkey have moved up further.

The booking was done from the Netherlands by a Marmara-based Turkish steel producer with the HMS I/II 80:20 scrap price standing at $353/mt CFR. This price is $5-6/mt higher than that in the deals reported earlier today. While the information has not been confirmed by the buyer or the seller, it is believed to be correct.

As a result, SteelOrbis’ reference prices for ex-Baltic and ex-US scrap have been revised to $358/mt CFR, considering the usual $5/mt gap between the European grades.
