Local scrap prices in Turkey increase in line with international trend

Since SteelOrbis’ last report published on December 19, Turkey’s local scrap market has moved up in line with the rises observed in the import segment. While most Turkish mills have increased their quotations by TRY 150-600/mt or $1-11/mt during this period, one producer has cut its prices by TRY 200/mt or $7/mt. Unchanged TRY-based prices have been matched by a drop of $3/mt in dollar-based prices due to the depreciation of the Turkish lira. Some sources at Turkish mills mention that Turkey’s already increased interest in domestic scrap will continue in 2026 also, particularly in periods when import scrap prices are moving up.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap has moved up from TRY 13,900-15,800/mt to TRY 13,900-16,350/mt. Due to the fluctuations observed in the exchange rate, the dollar-based quotations have moved from $325-369/mt to $322-379/mt.
