On June 13, SteelOrbis reported domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at JPY 28,800-29,300/mt ($266-270/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 32,600-32,900/mt ($301-304/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that H2 scrap prices have softened further as Japan’s Tokyo Steel has also decreased its scrap purchase prices for the third time in June. Prices are now at JPY 28,300-28,700/mt ($261-265/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 32,000-32,400/mt ($295-299/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer. H2 scrap decreased $5/mt from both the bottom and the top of the respective previous range. Shindachi scrap decreased $6/mt from both the bottom of the previous range and $5/mt from the top of the same range.
