Japanese H2 domestic scrap ticks down

On April 22, SteelOrbis reported domestic H2 scrap prices in Japan at mini-mills in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya at JPY 31,200-31,600/mt ($279-282/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 35,500-36,000/mt ($317-322/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer.

Sources inform SteelOrbis that H2 scrap prices have ticked down and are now at JPY 30,800-31,100/mt ($275-278/mt) for H2 scrap and JPY 34,800-35,100/mt ($311-314/mt) for shindachi scrap, all prices delivered to customer. H2 scrap decreased $4/mt from both the bottom and top of the previous range while shindachi scrap decreased $6/mt from the bottom of the range and $8/mt from the top of the same range. A source noted that Tokyo Steel further decreased scrap buying prices in the past few days; the scrap price adjustment is the eighth in April and ninth since downward price adjustments began in late March.
