During the past two weeks, ex-CIS pig iron offers to the Italian market have increased by $40-45/mt to $245/mt CIF.

Market sources stated that price increases for other products in the iron and steel sector and the improved situation in the US market have provided support for the increases in pig iron prices.

In the meantime, buying activity for pig iron in the Italian market has remained at low-to-medium levels, while availability of pig iron is good, even if the most recent volumes arriving in Italy have been lower than previous volumes.
