Sources close to the market inform SteelOrbis that the US has concluded deals this week with Brazilian suppliers for basic steelmaking pig iron at $375/mt FOB from the southern region. In regards CFR terms, two sources were slightly divergent, one calculated it at approximately $402-403/mt CFR US port while the other noted it as a $398-400/mt CFR deal. Both sources, though, concurred that deals were achieved lower than the “minimum $410/mt CFR offers that were prevalent a week ago and certainly lower than the most recent deals in the summer of $410-415/mt CFR.”
