Chinese domestic manganese ore prices have followed a mostly stable trend in the past week, with some slight upticks also seen. The mainstream quotations of Australian lump ore with 46 percent Mn content currently stand at $8.94/dmtu (RMB 60/dmtu) at China’s Tianjin port, while offers of lump ore of 48 percent Mn content are at $8.49/dmtu (RMB 57/dmtu). Also at Tianjin port, quotations for 44 percent grade Mn ore from Gabon are at $8.64/dmtu (RMB 58/dmtu), while offers of South African lump ore of 38 percent Mn content are at $8.20/dmtu (RMB 55/dmtu).
Overall trading activity in the Chinese manganese ore market has improved a little and is now considered to be at normal levels, The slight upticks seen in some prices have been due to the strength of ore quotations from overseas suppliers, while minor increases in downstream manganese alloy prices have also provided support. As for the week ahead, considering the gradual improvement in demand for manganese ore and the trend of overseas quotations, it is believed that manganese ore prices in China may follow a stable trend, with some slight increases also posible
