The Chinese domestic manganese ore prices have followed an upward trend during the past week. The mainstream quotations of Australian lump ore with 46 percent Mn content currently stand at $6.96/dmtu (RMB 45/dmtu) at China’s Tianjin port, while offers of lump ore of 48 percent Mn content are at $6.50/dmtu (RMB 42/dmtu). Also at Tianjin port, quotations for 44 percent grade Mn ore from Gabon are at $6.19/dmtu (RMB 40/dmtu), while offers of South African lump ore of 38 percent Mn content are at $5.80/dmtu (RMB 37.5/dmtu).

Chinese manganese ore prices have indicated an upward trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has increased and been at normal levels. Downstream alloy market prices have showed a large margin of increase due to limitation of production volume in most area of China which lead manganese ore price to mostly see slight increases. As for the week ahead, considering the downstream industry will remain impacted by low production volume and prices may be sustained at high level but manganese ore demand will decline, it is believed that manganese ore prices may fluctuate with slight uptrend.
