US import rebar offers are stable week-on-week after a slight drop last week, but sources tell SteelOrbis that prices are still vulnerable and further downticks could be seen as the year comes to close. However, most US import buyers are holding off on orders for the moment, waiting to see what happens when the US-EU tariff-rate quota system initiates on Jan. 1. Spain, Italy, and Portugal have been major sources of US import rebar in the past but not consistently, and buyers eagerly await fresh quotations in the New Year.

For now, US import rebar offers from Turkey are stable at $45.00-$46.00 cwt. ($992-$1,014/mt or $900-$920/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. Offers from Mexico, meanwhile, are also unchanged week-on-week at $46.00-$48.00 cwt. ($1,014-$1,058/mt or $920-$960/nt) DDP Houston.
