Though some US import rebar bookings have been heard recently, sources tell SteelOrbis that the market is overall quiet, due in part to the seasonal summer lull in demand which is nearing its end. The trend for import rebar prices remains down, however, as many speculate that offers still have room to dwindle downward.

For now, US import rebar offers from Algeria are stable this week at $45.00-$46.00 cwt. ($992-$1,014/mt or $900-$920/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, with offers from Turkey reported just below. Meanwhile, offers from Mexico are still in a range of $50.00-$51.00 cwt. ($1,102-$1,124/mt or $1,000-$1,020/nt) DDP Houston, although slightly lower offers have been heard.
