SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6.5-8 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:
Region |
Price ($/mt) |
Marmara |
615-620 |
Thrace |
600-605 |
Izmir |
605-610 |
Iskenderun |
620-625 |
The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis. Discounts are heard to be available for larger volume bookings.
Price levels in the Turkish wire rod market have decreased at different rates depending on the region this week and are now standing in the range of $600-625/mt ex-works. Market sources state that the wire rod market situation has yet to gain clarity due to the sudden strengthening of the US dollar against the Turkish lira, which has caused buyers to adopt a wait-and-see stance.
On the other hand, it is also stated that the price levels announced in the Iskenderun region last week have been found to be too high by local buyers. Consequently, Turkish buyers prefer to book larger tonnages from the CIS. Wire rod transactions in Turkey's Iskenderun region from the CIS have been concluded at levels of $600-605/mt CFR.
