Prices in the Turkish wire rod market have increased at different rates this week depending on regions and are now standing in the range of $604-621/mt ex-works. Market sources state that the sudden uptick in scrap prices on the back of the acceleration in scrap bookings has impacted wire rod prices as expected, while demand has not improved yet. Due to the approach of the winter, it is expected that wire rod buyers will accelerate their purchases next week, while it is believed that prices will trend sideways.
Meanwhile, although producers from the CIS want to raise their wire rod offers for Turkey due to strong scrap prices, demand is not strong enough to support any price hikes. On the other hand, it is stated that wire rod transactions in Turkey’s Marmara region from the CIS have continued to be concluded at the level of $580/mt CFR.
