Today, July 27, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 100-200/mt ($3-7/mt) in the Karabuk and Marmara regions, against the backdrop of the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment, while rebar prices have remained stable in the rest of the country. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 18,000-18,100/mt or $557-560/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 26.95.
Icdas A.S has kept its official rebar price at $580/mt ex-works today. An Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 18,000/mt (557/mt) ex-works at the current exchange rate. In addition, a few re-rollers in the same region are currently offering rebar at TRY 18,100-18,200/mt ($560-563/mt) ex-warehouse. Sources report the workable rebar price stands at around $550-560/mt ex-works. Moreover, a sale of around 40,000 mt of rebar has been rumored at $550-560/mt ex-works in the Izmir and Marmara regions.
A few mills are expected to start their maintenance works in August amid sluggish demand, though the final details have not been issued yet. Moreover, one Marmara-based mill is expected to restart its production by Monday, July 31.
