Retailers of rebar in Romania who have seen their business operations stagnate have lowered their prices even further this week. However, Donalam Beltrame, the sole producer of rebar in the country, continues to offer at a stable level while still being ready to grant discounts for serious customers.
Domestic origin rebar prices in Romania have remained stable this week at €720-725/mt ex-works for prompt deliveries, whereas retail rebar prices have declined by €20/mt to €675-680/mt ex-warehouse from the previous weeks.
In the wire rod segment, sentiment is still negative and most major traders are still not offering.
“Wire rod is not being sold. There is at present no sale price, no fresh sales, and not even a little bit of demand,” a trader told SteelOrbis.
Besides the bigger traders, some smaller retailers in Romania are still offering and have maintained the same pricing for wire rods as a couple of weeks ago, at €675-690/mt ex-warehouse.
Owing to low demand and ample stockpiles, most Romanian buyers remain uninterested in imports. Nevertheless, there were several offers for longs this week. According to sources, Egypt is offering rebar at €655-670/mt delivered to Romania and Hungary is offering €820/mt FCA. While in the wire rod segment, Indonesia is offering at €645/mt delivered, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is offering at €650/mt delivered.
