Even though Romanian long steel retailers reduced their pricing last week in order to attract more customers, this week local producers and retailers have kept their prices stable. Unfortunately, the continued local economic issues and weak demand are currently weighing on the long steel market. In response, some retailers are seeking to provide more discounts though most traders continue to seek to keep their prices stable.
Currently, local Romanian retail rebar prices are stable at €670-680/mt ex-warehouse. However, according to sources, some traders are trying to decrease their stocks and sell at €660/mt ex-warehouse. Similarly, the sole domestic mill continues to keep offers stable week on week at €650-660/mt ex-works.
Meanwhile, Romanian rebar traders have been showing little interest in imports owing to a lack of demand though there have been some offers this week. Ex-Greece rebar and wire rod offers increased by €20/mt for April shipping to €720-730/mt CFR and €740-750/mt CFR, respectively, while an Egypt supplier sold its whole allocation for April and May, and has no offers at present.
On the other hand, the Romanian wire rod market prices have remained constant at roughly €675-680/mt ex-warehouse. Still, some major traders are attempting to sell at around €690-700/mt ex-warehouse.
