As of today, October 27, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have remained flat in the local currency while there have been only minor changes on US dollar basis, as compared to October 23. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 27,200-28,000/mt ($541-557/m) ex-warehouse, depending on the region and at the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 41.92.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş's prices, have also remained stable compared to October 23, at $545-560/mt ex-works, while acceptable prices are still standing at $540-$555/mt ex-works, over the same period.
Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are still offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 27,600-27,700/mt ($549-551/mt) ex-warehouse, stable in Turkish lira basis while only rising $1/mt over the same period.
A Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales until Monday, November 3.
