As of today, November 13, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have mostly remained unchanged in the local currency with only minor changes seen in US dollar basis, except for rebar spot prices rising in the Izmir region by TRY 300/mt ($5/mt) compared to November 10 against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and the positive sentiment in the import scrap segment. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 28,000-28,800/mt ($552-568/m) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, and with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 42.25.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş's prices, have settled at $560-580/mt ex-works, versus $550-575/mt ex-works on November 10, while acceptable prices are at $555-575/mt ex-works, also up by $5/mt over the same period. The higher end seems a bit difficult to achieve under the current market conditions.
Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 28,300-28,500/mt ($558-562/mt) ex-warehouse, up by TRY 100/mt on the lower end with minor changes on US dollar basis compared to November 10.
Most local buyers are monitoring the import scrap price trend and purchasing just in line with daily needs.
