As of today, December 1, local rebar prices in the Turkish spot market have risen by TRY 100-400/mt ($1-8/mt) compared to November 27, against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and the positive sentiment in the import scrap market. Consequently, local 12 mm rebar prices in the spot market are now in the range of TRY 29,000-29,900/mt ($569-587/mt) ex-warehouse, depending on the region, with the exchange rate at $1 = TRY 42.46.
Official rebar offers for cash payments in the Marmara and Izmir regions, including İçdaş's prices, have settled at $575-600/mt ex-works, versus $570-590/mt ex-works on November 27, while acceptable prices are at $570-585/mt ex-works, up by $5/mt on the lower end over the same period. Producers in the Marmara region are even testing rebar sales at $590-595/mt ex-works, also up by $5/mt.
Sources say several Iskenderun-based rolling mills are offering rebar to serious buyers today at TRY 29,200-29,400/mt ($573-577/mt) ex-warehouse, versus TRY 29,000/mt ($569/mt) ex-warehouse last week.
One Samsun-based mill has extended the closure of its rebar sales until Monday, December 8.
