Brazilian producers are negotiating rebar for export to South American countries in a range of $540/mt to $550/mt, against $550/mt last week, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, a local market source told SteelOrbis.

In July, Gerdau exported 23,700 mt of rebar at $491/mt, while ArcelorMittal exported 15,200 mt of the product at $600/mt, both FOB conditions, different quality grades, destined mostly to South American countries, with price deals probably closed in May.

Due to the lackluster performance of the Brazilian housing sector, local production of rebar was reduced and the focus has moved to exports, chiefly to neighboring South American countries.
