Nucor increases rebar another $45/nt, along with $65/nt for merchant bar

Nucor announced late Monday, effective with shipments February 1, 2011, the raw materials surcharge (RMS) applicable to concrete reinforcing bar, merchant bar, and structural products will be $15.40 cwt. ($340/mt or $308/nt), an increase of $3.25 cwt. ($72/mt or $65/nt) when compared to their January 1, 2011 surcharge.

Nucor will decrease the base price on reinforcing bar products by $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt), resulting in a net transaction price increase of $2.25 cwt. ($50/mt or $45/nt), which is in addition to the $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt) increase that became effective with new orders on January 4, 2011.

Additionally, Nucor will increase transaction prices on merchant bar and structural products by $3.25 cwt. ($72/mt or $65/nt).
