Mexican domestic rebar prices jumped US$40/mt during the last two weeks to reach the level of US$691/mt ex-mill.

Government sources believe that the allocation of housing subsidies by the end of the year will remain and in 2014 there will be enough resources to leverage the construction of houses. The message for the 60 most important developers of housing in Mexico is that they will have sufficient allowances to complete their projects.

On the other hand, financial sources told SteelOrbis that the federal government required that commercial banks revive lending to developers for construction of housing and no "tax with the same yardstick" to companies, a financial problema that already affected major construction firms like Urbi, Geo and Homex.
