Local Turkish wire rod prices firm, supply limited

Local Turkish wire rod prices have remained unchanged over the past week. The key reason is the limited availability in the market, while earlier the negative mood in the scrap segment was expected to result in discounts in the wire rod segment locally.

An Iskenderun-based mill has stopped offering wire rod for this week. Currently, Turkish mills are mainly offering for December delivery. “Some have even started offering for January delivery and price negotiations will be undertaken at the beginning of November. It makes sense as orders will be booked for an extended delivery,” one source mentioned. Limited availability of sizes is still an issue for wire rod buyers.

Currently, the local offers for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:

The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, exclude 18 percent VAT and are on ex-works basis. The offers may differ depending on buyers and order sizes.
