During the week ending March 13, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have moved down, while transaction activity in the market has been at low levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the table below.
During the given week, ferrous metal futures prices in China have declined, negatively affecting semi-finished steel prices in the spot market. Although steelmakers were inclined to raise their semi-finished steel prices, traders have willing to sell at lower prices. Following the recent decreases, it is thought that domestic semi-finished steel prices will likely follow a sideways trend in the coming week.
