According to market sources, the Italian rebar market is still suffering the after-effects of the summer hiatus. Some producers have come back to the market and are trying to obtain a price in the range of €405-415/mt ($454-465/mt) ex-works for 12-28 mm rebar, i.e., the same prices seen at the beginning of August. However, local buyers are still in wait-and-see mode, though they are expected to start concluding orders with the start of September.

Meanwhile, Italian rebar offers to the export markets have remained in the range of €375-380/mt ($420-426/mt) FOB during the past week. Activity levels are still very low due to the summer offseason, but should revive in September.
