Local Italian demand for drawing-quality wire rod has slackened somewhat during the period of the summer holidays, though it has remained at around medium levels. At the same time, domestic prices have lost €10-20/mt ($12-23/mt) since the end of July and now stand at €380/mt ($426/mt) delivered to customer.

Meanwhile, the export market remains at a standstill since the Algerian market has stopped placing orders due to the suspension of import licenses at the end of May. Import offers are still on the scarce side and are not considered to be interesting by Italian buyers.
