SteelOrbis has learned that in the Italian domestic market rebar base prices are still standing at €270/mt ($338/mt) ex-works, remaining unchanged since last week. While there may be discounts of €5-10/mt ($6-13/mt) in the transaction phase, official offers are unlikely to fall given the support of scrap prices.

Meanwhile, on the export side, Italian rebar offers are at €510/mt ($638/mt) FOB. The main Italian producers have so far done a fairly good job filling their order books for June, though there is a lack of optimism for the end of June due to the approach of Ramadan.
