SteelOrbis has been informed by market sources that price levels in the Turkish domestic market for 6-7 mm mesh quality wire rod are as follows:
Region |
Price ($/mt) |
Marmara |
621-630 |
Thrace |
618-634 |
Izmir |
602-614 |
Iskenderun |
630 |
The above prices, which are on actual weight basis, do not include VAT and are on ex-works basis.
Local producers in the Turkish domestic wire rod market had revised their prices upwards last week due to supply shortages and high scrap prices. Turkish buyers were choosing to purchase ex-CIS materials instead of high-priced local products and so local producers have revised their prices downward by $8-12/mt since last week to the range of $602-634/mt ex-works, also influenced by the softening of import scrap prices at the start of the current week. Additionally, SteelOrbis has heard from market sources that the producer in Iskenderun which carried out overhaul work during April will return to the market on May 6. Accordingly, the supply shortage in the region is expected to end and provide some relief for buyers.
