The price level for rebar in the local Egyptian market is at around EGP 4,170-4,305/mt ($759-784/mt) ex-works, on actual weight basis, excluding taxes.

Although some producers' prices had been stable since late January, prices in the overall Egyptian market have recently registered some upward movements. It is expected that the prices in the Egyptian rebar market are likely to increase again in a very short time due to the intensive activity in the market. Most Egyptian producers are currently not on the export market scene; however, it is heard that the producers will push for above $780/mt FOB.
