Over the past month, longs prices in the local Bulgarian market have followed diverse trends. Rebar and wire rod prices have fallen by BGN 60-100/mt (€31-51/mt) in line with the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment in Turkey, while beam and section prices seem to be in a relatively better situation. "Stock levels are high, at least sufficient. Demand is generally low, though it looks to me a bit better than at the end of last year," a source told SteelOrbis. There is practically no export activity in the EU. Italy has been offering material at lower prices than Turkey in the last few months. Even the steel quota is available, only 35 percent utilized," another source said.
Currently, ex-Turkey rebar offers are standing at around $700/mt FOB (€657/mt), while ex-Italy rebar offers are available at €625-630/mt FOB. In addition, ex-Turkey wire rod offers are available at around $710/mt FOB (€667/mt), while ex-Italy wire rod offers are available at €650/mt FOB.
Turkish merchant bar export offers are available at €750-790/mt FOB (stable over the past month), while ex-Poland merchant bar offers were at €860/mt FOB. Turkish beam export prices were at €920-1,050/mt CPT depending on the size and quality, falling by €10/mt on the lower end. Ex-Poland beam prices were at €910-930/mt, versus €950/mt CPT a month ago, while ex-Spain offers are standing at €920-930/mt CIF, falling from €930-1,000/mt CIF. All import offers are for March shipment/delivery.
