On the first day back after the Chinese National Day Holiday, i.e., October 8, most rebar and wire rod traders in China raised their offers for the domestic market as compared to pre-holiday levels. On October 8, rebar futures contract (1301) offers at Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at $582/mt. Average domestic rebar and wire rod prices in China's main markets can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

The rises in rebar and wire rod prices in China are partly attributable to the increased demand from construction projects. On the other hand, the uptrend of semi-finished steel prices has also provided supported for the domestic long steel market. For the coming week, rebar and wire rod prices in the Chinese domestic market are expected to maintain their upward movement.
