Over the past month, Bulgarian domestic longs prices have remained stable, but demand is not strong. Although elections have taken place in the country and their result may support economic activities, current business activity is somewhat slow ahead of the Easter holidays.

In the import segment, the indicative ex-Turkey rebar and wire rod offers have decreased by $50/mt (€70/mt) over the past month to $690/mt (€630/mt) and $710-720/mt FOB (€649-658/mt), both on FOB basis, respectively. A few offers for merchant bars from Turkey are at $750-800/mt (€685-730/mt) FOB, down by the same amount compared to February. The main reasons are the sluggish international demand and the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments.
In addition, ex-Italy merchant bar prices are standing at €820-890/mt FOB. Ex-Spain beam prices are at €890-990/mt FOB, while ex-Italy offers are standing at €920-1,020/mt CIF. Import offers are indicating a €10/mt decrease in ex-Europe prices, with all import offers for April-May shipment/delivery.
