Over the past month, local Bulgarian longs prices have mostly fallen by BGN 10-50/mt (€5-26/mt), except for wire rod prices which have remained unchanged over the same period, amid sluggish international demand. Bulgaria domestic longs market demand seems relatively moderate, while most buyers are taking their time regarding new purchases and are monitoring import scrap prices in Turkey.
In the import segment, most buyers are in the market, but they are evaluating North African offers due to their aggressive pricing policies. Ex-Algeria rebar and wire rod offers are standing at $550-560/mt FOB, while ex- Egypt official offers are at around 570/ FOB or $590/mt CFR Bulgaria, which seems unworkable so far. Currently, ex-Turkey rebar and wire rod offers are at $570-580/mt FOB and $590/mt FOB, around $585-595/mt and 605/mt CFR Bulgaria, respectively, and they are also not competitive under the current market conditions. The average freight is around $15/mt (€14/mt) for Turkey and around $20/mt (€19/mt) for Egypt, SteelOrbis understands. Ex-Turkey rebar and wire rod offers were at $555/mt FOB and $565/mt FOB a month ago.
In addition, ex-Turkey merchant bar offers are at around $640-670/mt (€600-628/mt) CFR, versus $655/mt (€595/mt) CFR Bulgaria over the past month. In addition, merchant bar offers from Poland are around €700/mt CPT.
In the beam segment, ex-Italy beam offers are available at €760/mt CIF Bulgaria, while ex-Romania offers are standing at €750/mt CPT. Moreover, ex-Poland offers are available at €820/mt CPT, SteelOrbis has heard. Ex-Poland and Ex-Romania beam offers were available at $860-880/mt (€750-800/mt) CPT Bulgaria a month ago.
