For the fourth consecutive week, Brazilian producers are negotiating rebar for export at $590/mt, FOB conditions, with reference to the CA-50 grade.

Conceding that the price is higher than international prices, a local exporter told SteelOrbis that energy rates at the country’s electric arc furnace (EAF) plants, the highest in recent years, are reducing the competitiveness of exports of long products, currently limited to Latin America and the US.

In October, ArcelorMittal exported rebar at $509/mt, Gerdau at $419/mt and Votorantim at $527/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in August.
