Algerian Qatari Steel (AQS) remains interested in billet imports, taking into account the situation in the raw materials sector. The company, which had recently finalized a 40,000 mt tender, is again in the market to purchase the same volume.

AQS is looking to buy 20,000 mt of billet for rebar production and 20,000 mt for wire rod production. The producer inquires the billet for end of November-December shipment.

The previous tender was finalized with a Russian mill at $433/mt CFR for a mixed lot, as SteelOrbis reported earlier. The new tender is also likely to be closed with a producer from the CIS. The current offers from CIS-based mills are at $415/mt FOB minimum.
