According to Dec. 4 data by the US Department of Commerce, Enforcement and Compliance, US import tonnages of hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil totaled 157,748 mt (license data), which sets November as bringing in the least amount of HDG import tons this year.  September comes in second, at 199,496 mt (census data).

As with last week, buyers continue to remain wary in terms of booking offshore, especially due to the recent price downtrend within the US flat rolled steel market.  This trend will likely continue until after the first of the year, when many hope the landscape of the US domestic flat rolled steel market will be clearer.
