Turkish coated steel market has started a post-holiday week at a quiet mode with prices remaining stable and the trade being slow. Some market players are still not back to work and overall both buyers and sellers are targeting to see a clearer trend in the coming days.
Still, the demand is not expected to improve much in the short run since the European customers will be on holidays in August and due to some maintenances to be handled by some end-users in Turkey. In addition, the moods in the scrap segment are mainly negative and the price decreases are also expected in the hot-rolled coil segment, although for now the suppliers are mainly sticking to the pre-holiday levels. As a result, ex-Turkey coated steel prices might also weaken in the coming month due to pessimistic moods and insufficient demand.
"Market is still in holiday mood and some producers do not have any price level at the moment. Both buyers and sellers want to wait at least until August, because they are hoping to see a clearer market outlook. We think lower prices are very likely in the upcoming period but it is still very early for any prediction. We should start to understand end users' demand first," a producer told SteelOrbis.
