The average export price of Brazilian slab remained unchanged following a two-week decrease

Brazilian slab exporters are currently negotiating deals at an average of $470/mt, unchanged from the previous week, under FOB conditions for basic commercial grades.

In July, prices remained largely stable, with a decrease of $5/mt over the month.

Brazil's slab exports in July are projected to be similar to, or possibly exceed, the 751,000 mt exported in June. This trend is influenced by expectations among exporters and US clients that the recently imposed 50 percent import tariff on all Brazilian products will not be added to the existing 50 percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports to the US.

During the first half of 2025, Brazil exported 3.216 million mt of slabs, with 2.718 million mt shipped to the US.

The ArcelorMittal steel processing plant in Calvert, Alabama, sources slabs from the company's plants in Tubarão and Pecem, Brazil.
