A source linked to a Brazilian exporter told SteelOrbis that slab export prices to clients in Europe are set for negotiations at $500/mt to $510/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, the same range as last week, while for sales to the US the reference price range is also stable, at $540/mt to $550/mt, under the same conditions

The source mentioned that the company will return to negotiations next week for deliveries in May, following a local holiday period.

In February, Brazil exported 343,000 mt of slab, against 699,000 mt in January. Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem exported 128,300 mt at $458/mt, Ternium exported 117,300 mt at $488/mt, Tubarao exported 94,900 mt at $472/mt, and Gerdau exported 2,500 mt at $623/mt.

The main destinations were the EU (126,700 mt at $470/mt), the US (117,300 mt at $488/mt), South Korea (55,800 mt at $479/mt) and Mexico (43,200 mt at $435/mt), all FOB conditions with price deals probably closed in December 2018.
