Slab export price shows sharp increase in Brazil

Different sources in Brazil told SteelOrbis that a FOB price range of $490/mt to $500/mt is the new reference for the export of slab of the basic commercial grades, compared with a range of $460/mt to $470/mt FOB last week.

One of the sources said that he has already closed one such deal at $490/mt, while a second source confirmed that he has already sold at $500/mt, adding that there are rumors that a slab export deal was closed at $510/mt.

 In November, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem exported slab at $487/mt, Ternium Brazil at $444/mt, ArcelorMittal Tubarao at $481/mt and Gerdau Acominas at $437/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in September.
