Ahead of the Easter holiday, Romanian flat steel spot traders have decided to maintain offers stable from last week. Even though demand has been quite slow in recent weeks, the majority of traders want to observe how the market will evolve following the holiday. In particular, they want to see the market reaction to the sole flat steel plant, which, as previously reported by SteelOrbis, is expected to resume production next week after being idle since last summer.
While the sole Romanian flat steel producer has yet to announce new prices in the market, Romania’s flat steel spot prices have remained stable week on week, with hot rolled sheet (HRS) prices at €725-750/mt ex-warehouse and cold rolled sheet (CRS) prices at €835-850/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, the import market has been quiet this week as Europe's Easter break approaches, and the majority of Romanian buyers are less interested in making purchases. As a result, ex-Ukraine offers for HRS and CRS have remained stable week on week, at €660-670/mt DAP and €750-760/mt DAP, respectively. In contrast, Turkish mills have continued to lower HRC pricing to $570-590/mt FOB, with freight costs of roughly €25/mt, arriving in Romania at around €525-545/mt CFR, down from €535-555/mt CFR the week before.
