This week, since no improvement or new pricing has been reported from the sole Romanian sole flat steel producer and with trade remaining limited with not much optimism for the coming weeks, Romanian flat steel traders have kept their offer prices stable week on week. While demand has not been particularly supportive of higher levels, some Romanian flat steel traders are unwilling to lower their offers due to the price increases seen for Turkish scrap and EU hot rolled coil. However, others believe that, if demand decreases further, some price reductions may be seen.
As a result, prices for domestic origin hot rolled coil (HRC) in Romania have remained stable week on week at €590-600/mt ex-works. Likewise, Romanian traders' prices for hot rolled sheet (HRS) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) have remained the same week on week at €725-750/mt ex-warehouse and CRS prices are stable at €835-850/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, in the import category, there has been no movement over the past week in terms of both offers and import interest from Romanian buyers. According to reports, ex-Ukraine offers for HRS and CRC have remained stable week on week at €650-660/mt DAP and €740-750/mt DAP, respectively. Similarly, Turkish mills continue to provide HRC at FOB prices varying in the range of $520-540/mt, with freight costs of about €25/mt, arriving in Romania at around €525-545/mt CFR, stable compared to previous levels.
