Reference price maintains long term stability for Brazilian slab exports

According to sources, the reference price for the exports of slabs from Brazil remains at $530/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, roughly stable since August 5, except for one week at $540 three weeks ago.

In September, Brazil exported 422,200 mt and imported 157,800 mt of slabs against respectively 465,800 mt and 144,400 mt in August.

In September, Ternium exported 224,400 mt of slabs to the US at $647/mt, while ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 87,000 mt at $564/mt to the US, 54,600 mt at $545/mt to Canada, 30,800 mt at $549/mt to Argentina, and 25,400 mt at $563/mt to the UK, all FOB conditions.

Also in September, Usiminas imported 24,400 mt at $497/mt from Japan, while CSN imported 87,500 mt at $483/mt from Russia and 45,900 mt at $504/mt from Vietnam, also FOB conditions.
