The reference export price for Brazilian slabs is $455/mt, stable over the last two weeks, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades.

After a long period of stability, between August 2024 and March 2025, ranging between $530/mt and $540/mt, the prices have declined after the announcement of the high import tariff by the US, remaining between $455/mt and $470/mt since mid-July, the lowest level in recent years.

In September, Brazil exported 476,800 mt of slabs, in average at $497/mt, against 485,300 mt at $517/mt in August, FOB conditions, including quality extras.

The US continues to be the main destination of the Brazilian slabs, equivalent to 80 percent of the total exported during the first nine months of 2025.

The ArcelorMittal steel processing plant in Calvert, Alabama, depends on slabs from the Brazilian ArcelorMittal plants of Pecem and Tubarão to feed its rolling operations.
