The reference export price for Brazilian slabs declined to $455/mt from last week’s $460/mt, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades.
Such price marks a multi-year low, reflecting the higher import taxes imposed by the US, affecting prices also to other destinations, compared to $530/mt in January 2025.
During 2025, the US received 80 percent of the Brazilian slab exports.
For the first three weeks of September, Brazil exported an estimated 350,000 mt of slabs, in average at $510/mt, FOB conditions, but in this case including quality extras.
